NEW – Peter J. Carril Memorial Scholarship
The Peter J. Carril Memorial Fund awards one scholarship annually to a graduating Liberty High School senior male or female basketball player. The applicant is asked to complete an application. This scholarship award will be in the amount of $2,500. The scholarship is awarded based on the submitted application with references and is reviewed by a committee of school staff, along with input from the Carril family. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

George B. Yasso Memorial Scholarship
The George B. Yasso memorial fund provides up to five (5) scholarships to graduating seniors through an application and essay format. Scholarship awards will be in the amount of up to $2,500. Application and essay are reviewed by the Yasso family determining scholarship recipients in May. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Jon Williams Memorial Scholarship
The Jon Williams Memorial Scholarship provides one (1) scholarship of $1,000 to a graduating senior of Liberty High School through an application. The ideal applicant has a GPA of 3.2 or higher (Honor Roll), demonstrates strong leadership skills, and is known as a friend to everyone. In memory of Jon Williams (Liberty High School Class of 1990), Jon’s family and friends established a memorial fund to support scholarships and mental health related programs in partnership with the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District. The memorial fund will support students’ academic success with funds beyond the district’s general operating budget.

Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
The Kalman Sarkozy, Sr. memorial fund provides one (1) scholarship in the amount of $500 or $1,000 to graduating seniors from through an application. Application and essay are reviewed by the Sarkozy/Barron family and selections determined in early May. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Kim Donatelli Memorial Scholarship
The Kim Donatelli Scholarship was established in memory of Kim Donatelli, a 1981 graduate of Freedom High School, and a former teacher in the BASD for 22 years. The Kim Donatelli memorial fund provides one (1) scholarship to graduating Freedom High School senior planning to pursue a higher education degree in Education. Scholarship award will be in the amount of up to $2,000 for the first year, and an additional $500 will be awarded for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Asa Packer Elementary School Scholarship
The Asa Packer faculty and staff are proud to offer one (1) $500 scholarship each school year to a graduating senior from Freedom High School or Liberty High School. Specific scholarship criteria and detailed information can be found on the application. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Clara Nagy Petraglia and Joseph C. Petraglia Scholarship
The Clara Nagy Petraglia and Joseph C. Petraglia Scholarship was established to honor Clara Nagy, former LHS Class of 1953 editor-in-chief of Liberty Life and former BASD Principal Joseph Petraglia. Each year, one (1) recipient will receive a scholarship up to $1,000. Awards are available to any graduating Liberty High School senior planning to pursue a higher education degree in journalism or closely related field or in the field of education. Clearview Elementary School Scholarship
The Clearview Elementary School Scholarship provides one (1) $250 scholarship award to a qualified graduating senior from either Liberty or Freedom High School who attended Clearview Elementary School for at least five full years. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Farmersville Elementary School Scholarship
Farmersville Elementary School’s PTA will offer one (1) $500 scholarship each school year to a graduating senior in the school district. To be eligible to apply and receive this scholarship, you must meet all of the criteria listed on the scholarship application. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Fountain Hill Elementary School Scholarship
Fountain Hill Elementary School’s Faculty Fund will offer one (1) $500 scholarship each school year to a graduating senior in the school district. To be eligible to apply and receive this scholarship, you must meet all of the criteria listed on the scholarship application. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Hanover Elementary School Scholarship
The Hanover Elementary School Scholarship provides up to two (2) $500 awards to qualified graduating seniors from either Liberty or Freedom High School who attended Hanover Elementary School for a minimum of at least three full years. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

James Buchanan Elementary School Scholarship
James Buchanan Elementary School will award one scholarship, as permitted by the approved PTA budget, to a graduating BASD senior who attended JBES and will be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational institute in the summer or fall semester immediately following high school graduation. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

NEW – Karen Voorhees Scholarship
The Karen Voorhees Scholarship List provides one (1) $1,000 award to a qualified graduating senior who has attended either Fountain Hill, Donegan, or Broughal, and will be pursuing a major in Education. The application deadline is May 3, 2024. Click to view 2024 Application.

Lincoln Elementary School Scholarship
The Lincoln Elementary School Scholarship provides up to a $500 award to one (1) qualified graduating senior from either Liberty or Freedom High School who attended Lincoln Elementary School from kindergarten through 5th grade. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Miller Heights Elementary School Scholarship
The Miller Heights Elementary School PTO Scholarship provides up to a $500 award to one (1) qualified graduating senior from either Liberty or Freedom High School who attended Miller Heights Elementary School for a minimum of three years. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

NEW – Morning Star Rotary Scholarship
The Morning Star Rotary Scholarship provides up to two (2) $1,000 awards to eligible graduating seniors from Freedom High School. Ideal applicants will be entering a college program majoring in Education or applicants embody the Rotary International motto, “Service Above Self” with outstanding community service. Spring Garden Elementary School Scholarship
The Spring Garden Elementary School Scholarship provides up to two (2) $500 awards to eligible graduating seniors from either Liberty and/or Freedom High School who attended Spring Garden Elementary School for at least two full school years from kindergarten through 5th grade. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Thomas Doluisio Scholarship
The Thomas Doluisio Scholarship Fund provides two (2) $500 scholarships for eligible seniors who plan to pursue a career as an educator. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Scholarship
The Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Scholarship provides up to a $500 award to one (1) qualified graduating senior from either Liberty or Freedom High School who attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary School for at least one school year from kindergarten through 5th grade. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

The Jack Burke William Penn Memorial Scholarship
The William Penn Elementary School Alumni Fund will offer one scholarship in the amount of $500 or $1,000 each school year to an eligible graduating senior at Freedom High School or Liberty High School. The applicant must have attended William Penn Elementary School for a minimum of at least two full school years. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

William Burkhardt Scholarship
The William Burkhardt Scholarship Fund provides one (1) $500 scholarship to an eligible senior at Liberty High School who plans to include the arts in their college experience. Applications closed as of April 26, 2024.

 


***The Foundation for The Bethlehem Area School District has a policy to award scholarship amounts to the institution of higher learning (college, university or trade school) through the recipient’s personal bursar account. No checks are written to the student/individual. Students will be asked to provide the name of their educational institution, address and bursar account information following notice of award so that their account may be credited with their scholarship award.
