Sunday Shout-Out

Sunday Shout-Out – Week of April 2, 2017: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends.  Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for the first week of April and the beginning of our state testing, the PSSAs. We ask that as parents you help us promote your child’s best performance on these state assessments by continuing to encourage your child to do their best and also by providing your child with support in the following areas:

• Attendance to school daily and on time
• Support in getting a good night’s sleep
• Support in maintaining your child’s normal morning routines
• Insuring that your child eats a nutritious breakfast
• Avoiding the scheduling of appointments during our testing window
• And by continuing to be sure your child takes these assessments seriously

These assessments are extremely challenging for all children and everyone’s effort to support our children is appreciated. This first week of the PSSA testing will focus on Reading/Language Arts and will given in the mornings of Monday through Thursday. Because of our focus on testing we do ask that the majority of our after school activities be suspended during the testing. We also ask that our teachers suspend the administration of all major tests during the days of testing as well. We do however encourage your children to read every evening and to continue to practice their Math IXL if possible. The exception to our after school activities being suspended are the spring sports that are scheduled and our parent association meetings. In sports our girl’s softball team is scheduled to play three times this week. Our girls play away on Monday at Nazareth and on Friday they are at Dieruff.   The team is home Wednesday against East Hills. Our soccer team plays twice this week. The team is at East Hills on Tuesday and home against Bethlehem Catholic on Thursday. Our Northeast Parent Teacher Organization will be hosting our Liberty High School Administrators on Wednesday to talk about the transition of our 8^th grade students to the high school. We hope to see many of our 8^th grade parents there for this important step in your child’s education. This meeting will start at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria followed by our monthly band & orchestra parent meeting in the band room.

We end our shout out this week reminding all of our parents that official report cards for the third quarter will be sent home with our children on Friday. However before then we will be sending home an invite to the parents of our 3^rd quarter honor roll students to attend our special “Academic Progress Monitoring” breakfasts on Monday and Tuesday, April 10^th and 11^th. Please mark these dates in your calendar, as it is our way of recognizing the great accomplishments of so many of our children. Friday we will also be celebrating the accomplishments of our P.R.O.U.D. Society members by taking them bowling in the afternoon.
