Week of October 15, 2017: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for the week of October 15th. First I want to thank all of the parents and grandparents that were able to come in to school this past week to spend some time with us during our district’s celebration of American Education. During this coming week we will have parents and grandparents here again as we host our Northeast Parent Teacher Organization on Wednesday. Our parent association meets at 6:00 p.m. in our school’s cafeteria. Our Band Parent meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the band room immediately follows our NEPTO meeting. NEPTO is also sponsoring an “Eats Out” Night on Thursday the 19th. This month’s education partner is the Dairy Queen on Easton Avenue. Please stop out for dinner or a treat between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday to help support our parent organization and ultimately our students.
This week in school we will be running a collection for clothing and necessities. This is being organized by our Student Leadership Council in an effort to collect much needed basic items to give to families in the Lehigh Valley that have been displaced by the hurricanes. Each homeroom will receive a garbage bag to fill with clothing, coats, shirts and sweatshirts of all sizes and any unopened health items (ex: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes). Any and all donations are appreciated.
Also this week we have a number of team trips planned for our children. Friday our Sixth Grade Team Power will be headed out to go bowling. All of seventh grade will be out with Explorers going to Mazezilla and Team Investigators going out to Bear Rock Junction. We are fortunate to be able to provide our children with these types of team building experiences, and we thank you the parents for supporting our efforts.
Finally again this week we have a tremendous amount of “Fall” happenings with our students. Our band and color guard have two parades over the weekend. On Saturday they march in the Nazareth parade and on Sunday they turn around and parade in Hellertown’s Halloween Parade. This week we have our final Field Hockey games. On Monday the team plays at Orefield and then on Thursday they end their season with a night game in the BASD stadium against Broughal. Hopefully this game ends our season with a win. Also on Monday our volleyball team plays up in Orefield and then they end their regular season at home against Easton on Tuesday. Our Cross Country team has its final meet, the Liberty Invitational, at Illick’s Mill on Thursday. Finally our Football team has a bye week as it prepares for its last game under the lights at Liberty against Broughal next week.
Have a great remainder to your weekend!
