ACTIVITIES:
- ARCHERY: The beginning archery tournament is this Friday, October 26th. We will have one last tournament practice tomorrow the 24th for beginners. Please remember that there are no seats in the auxiliary gym so remind your parents to bring camp chairs to sit on. The advanced archery tournament will be on Monday the 29th. Yearbook photos will be taken during the tournaments so please wear your archery shirts if you have one. All archers need to have $3 in for the pizza party by November 1st. The end of archery party will be on Friday November 2nd in Mr. Detwiler’s room. The party will end at 4:00 on the 2nd.
- BOY SCOUTS: If you are interested in joining Boy Scouts, please see your guidance counselor for a permission form. Boy Scout meetings are held once a week here at Northeast on Tuesdays from 3:05PM – 5PM. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 30th . Boy Scouts has a lot to offer, so come be part of the fun!
- WORLD LANGUAGE CLUB: Attention World Language Club members: Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 24th after school in Señorita Danner’s Spanish room B201. We will be learning about Día de los Muertos!
THE ARTS:
- AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: Due to the Lion King Jr. auditions, there are no after school vocal groups rehearsals for the week of October 21.
- CLAY CLUB MEMBERS: Clay club is canceled on Monday, October 22 due to Mrs. Klose helping with musical auditions. Clay club will continue on Thursday.
- NEMS THEATRE COMPANY: Auditions for the musical Lion King Jr.will take place on Monday, October 22, Tuesday, October 23, and Wednesday, October 24 in Northeast auditorium from 3:10 until 6 o’clock. Be sure to wear clothing that you can dance in. Please bring your script and music as well. Also, go to your lockers before coming to the audition. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Parker. In the words of Rafiki… It is time! We can’t wait to see you!
- STAGE CREW: Stage crew will be canceled this Tuesday and Wednesday due to musical auditions. We will continue with crew next Tuesay.
SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK: There’s a change to School Spirit Week! Pajama Day has been moved to Tuesday! If you would like to participate, here is the following schedule of activities for the week. Please encourage your homerooms to show their spirit.
- Tuesday 10/23 – Pajama Day
- Wednesday 10/24 – Mis-match Day
- Thursday 10/25 – Green and White Day.
If students participate in all 4 days they will receive a ticket to the game on Thursday night. Homeroom teachers please let Mr. Korcienski know how many tickets you need for students who participated after homeroom on Thursday, 10/25.
SPORTS:
- GIRLS BASKETBALL: There will only be two open gym dates for the girls basketball team – Tuesday, October 23 & Thursday, October 25. Please see Coach Soto or Coach Schaffrick for intramural forms needed to participate.
- WINTER SPORTS PHYSICALS: Attention 7th and 8th grade students interested in playing a winter sport. The BASD along with St.Lukes will be hosting FREE physicals on 10/30/18 from 5-7 pm at Northeast Middle School’s Main gym and then again on 11/1/18 from 5-7 at Freedom’s Main gym. Please stop by the main office or student services to pick up a PIAA physical form. Those students who played a fall sport just need to pick up a re-eval form. All forms must be turned into our athletic trainer prior to tryouts. Any questions see Mr. Korcienski in room A-107.
- WRESTLING: Attention all 7th and 8th grade students. If you are interested in freshman wrestling there will be a meeting on Thursday, 10/25/18, in the cafeteria at 3:10. The freshman coaches will be giving you information about the team. Please be there right after school. Any questions please see Mr. Korcienski.
STUDENT FUNDRAISERS:
- Attention ALL students! Lollypop sales for all grade lunches, each starting @ $1.00! Come and support student leadership by buying one of our delicious treats! Be sure to buy 1 before they sell out!
- We’re having a Halloween Social Fundraiser on Wednesday, October 24th during activity period! This fundraiser is for a Northeast student who is battling cancer, so come show your support and have a fun time! For only $3, you can come to the cafeteria, where there will be music, light refreshments, and chances to win different prizes and gift cards if you wear a school-appropriate Halloween costume. See your homeroom teacher for more details.
- Student leadership has partnered with the athletics department in collecting gently used or new shoes. Please consider donating any old shoes that you have to Northeast middle school. The shoes will then be used in an effort to help pay off school lunch debts in our district. Students, when you donate a pair of shoes, please notify your homeroom teacher before you take them to the main office or student services. Your teacher will then write down your name and you will get a free ticket to the night game!
DROP OFF TABLE: Student Services has a drop off table. If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up. Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass. If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.
BOXTOPS: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher. Homeroom teachers can then send them to Mrs. Derrington or Mrs. Braido and student council will take care of the rest.
SAFE TO TELL: It’s SAFE to Tell.” The SAFE Team exists to help students with problems in a confidential manner to help remove any and all barriers to education. You can refer your friends or yourself. Just fill out the SAFE to Tell form which you can find in your homeroom, Student Services, the Library and the Main Office and drop the form in the SAFE Box or give it to your homeroom teacher who will deposit the form for you.
