BASD SPRING SPORTS PHYSICALS: Attention 7th and 8th grade students who wish to participate in Soccer and Softball this spring. The BASD along with St. Lukes is offering an opportunity for you to get your physical completed absolutely free – on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 5:00-7:00PM at Liberty’s Memorial Gym. Physical packets can be picked up at the Main Office, Student Services, or in Mr. Korcienski’s room A107. Any student who played a previous sport this year on needs a reevaluation form filled out and returned to Mr. Korcienski. If you have any questions please see Mr. Korcienski in room A 107.
NORTHEAST THEATRE COMPANY FUNDRAISER: Join us for a pancake breakfast this weekend at Tocci’s! Tickets are only $6 and proceeds help to fund this year’s production of Disney’s The Lion King Jr.! Hope to see you there from 9-11 AM at Tocci’s Tailgaters Pub and Grill!
SIXTH GRADE FUNDRAISER: Attention All 6th Grade Northeast students!!! Students in the 6th grade class will be holding a 3 on 3 basketball tournament fundraiser of which all proceeds will benefit the New Bethany Ministries to help the less fortunate. The 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held during periods 8 and 9 at a date to be determined. If you are interested in participating and entering a team into the tournament please see Jahsi Cole and Dywane Chess or Mr. Callahan to sign your team up. The winning team will be awarded a free Pizza Party.
ACTIVITIES:
- CHESS CLUB: Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 20th. We will not be meeting this week.
- WYLDLIFE CLUB: Interested in learning about a new club starting at Northeast this week? Information about WyldLife will be distributed during lunch time. Our first meeting will be Thursday, February 14 after the end of the 11:30am school day. See Mrs. Parker with any questions.
THE ARTS:
- AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: There are no after school vocal groups this coming week…please turn in your All City Middle School Chorus purple form as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Parker…thank you!
- DRAMA REHEARSALS: The rehearsal schedule for the upcoming week is as follows:
- Friday, February 14th, 2-4pm – Rehearsal for the following characters: Rafiki, Mufasa, Young and Adult Simba, Young and Adult Nala, Sarabi, Scar, Banzai, Shenzi, Ed, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu, all lionesses, and all hyenas. Thank you for your flexibility!
- Saturday, February 16th – all cast from 9:00-noon
- Monday, February 18th -all cast from noon until 3 PM – this is a change due to the number of students who are attending the Honor Roll Skating Trip…congratulations to all of you! Please get this change on your schedule ASAP. This takes the place of the Tuesday, February 19th after school rehearsal.
- Ad forms, biographies, permission slips for Broughal’s production of the Little Mermaid, and more are due ASAP…please see Mrs. Parker if you need any of these forms.
- Please be sure that you have homework and/or your script with you during these times so that you can always be working on something should there be any down time. How are you doing academically? Please be sure you are on top of your work…talk with your teachers and check Schoology frequently. Thank you for your time and talent!
- LIBERTY GRENADIER MAJORETTE TRYOUTS: Tues. Feb. 19, 2019 after school at Liberty HS in the band room. The candidates trying out will be responsible for learning a 64-count Liberty High School routine AND developing a 32-48 count routine of their own. The practice and try-out will be held on Tues. Feb. 19, 2019, beginning immediately following your school day. Music is optional if they wish to bring it. Please have students bring a copy of their most recent report card to the try-out. Students MUST march during their entire try-out. (They should march during our routine & their routine.)
ATHLETICS:
- BOYS BASKETBALL: Attention ALL 2018-19 boy’s basketball team members. There will be no practice today. Please meet Coach Carlstrom next Tuesday in the Main Gym at 3:15pm for pizza prior to the Semi Final game. All players should wear their shooting shirts during the school day.
- SOCCER: Attention All Northeast Soccer Players! Please take advantage of the FREE PHYSICALS ON TUESDAY FEB. 19TH AT LIBERTY. ALSO, there will be an interest meeting for all 7th and 8th grade girls and boys about up coming Open Gyms, Physicals, and Tryouts for the Northeast Soccer team next week ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20 with Coach Spieker.
DROP OFF TABLE: Student Services has a drop off table. If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up. Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass. If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.
BOXTOPS: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher. Homeroom teachers can then send them to Mrs. Derrington or Mrs. Braido and student council will take care of the rest.
SAFE TO TELL: It’s SAFE to Tell.” The SAFE Team exists to help students with problems in a confidential manner to help remove any and all barriers to education. You can refer your friends or yourself. Just fill out the SAFE to Tell form which you can find in your homeroom, Student Services, the Library and the Main Office and drop the form in the SAFE Box or give it to your homeroom teacher who will deposit the form for you. Don’t worry, “It’s Safe To Tell.
