BASD SPRING SPORTS PHYSICALS – RESCHEDULED: Attention 7th and 8th grade students who wish to participate in Soccer and Softball this spring. The BASD along with St. Lukes is offering an opportunity for you to get your physical completed absolutely free – on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 5:00-7:00PM at Freedom. Physical packets can be picked up at the Main Office, Student Services, or in Mr. Korcienski’s room A107. Any student who played a previous sport this year on needs a reevaluation form filled out and returned to Mr. Korcienski. If you have any questions please see Mr. Korcienski in room A 107.
LION KING, JR.: In the words of Rafiki…it is time! Northeast Middle School Theatre Company proudly presents Disney’s Lion King Jr. on Thursday, February 28th at 7 PM and Saturday, March 2nd at 3 PM. SIXTH GRADE FUNDRAISER FOR NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES: Attention All 6th Grade Northeast students!!! Students in the 6th grade class will be holding a 3 on 3 basketball tournament fundraiser of which all proceeds will benefit the New Bethany Ministries to help the less fortunate. The 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held during periods 8 and 9 at a date to be determined. If you are interested in participating and entering a team into the tournament please see Jahsi Cole and Dywane Chess or Mr. Callahan to sign your team up. The winning team will be awarded a free Pizza Party.
SIXTH GRADE FUNDRAISER FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL: Attention all sixth graders of Northeast Middle School! There will be an art and craft period for anyone who brings $3. The date has moved to Tuesday February 26th, during activity period. The activity will take place inside the classroom A211. Make sure to bring your money there. This event is to support the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital that focuses their studies on helping children with cancer.
VOTES NEEDED: We need your help. A team of 8th grade students has worked since the beginning of the school year to plan, film and edit a video about Just Born candy for a video competition. Our team would like to win the Viewer’s Choice award by getting the most votes for our video. Please go to www.whatssocool.org, click on the LV (Lehigh Valley) contest and vote for Bethlehem Northeast. Voting began at 12:01 AM on Wednesday and ends at 6 PM Saturday. ACTIVITIES:
- CHESS CLUB: Our next meeting will be held next Wednesday, February 27th. Don’t forget to bring your $3 before Wednesday, if you would like to participate in our pizza party for the end of Chess Club session 2. Chess Club session 3 will begin on March 6th. If you would like to join, please see Mr. Wynn in A103.
- MATH NERDS: Attention all 6th, 7th and 8th graders who enjoy a good challenge. Math Nerds will be starting on Wednesday, 2/27/19 in room A305 from 3:05-4:25. Permission slips can be picked up in either room A305 or B305. Club advisors are Mr. Sonntag and Mrs. Papagni. Math Nerds is a club for anyone who likes brain teasers and challenging games and puzzles.
- WORLD LANGUAGE CLUB: Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 7th after school in Mr. Wynn’s room A103. Hope to see you there!

- AFTER SCHOOL VOCAL GROUPS: There are no after school vocal groups this coming week…please turn in your All City Middle School Chorus purple form as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Parker…thank you!
- DRAMA REHEARSALS: Lion King Jr. cast and crew…it’s TECH WEEK!!! Please note the rehearsal schedule…thank you for your time and talent! Please get to rehearsal after going to your lockers as quickly as you can! TECH WEEK rehearsals are as follows:
- Friday, February 22 – 3:10-6:00: ALL Cast and crew: Christmas City Studios will be here to take our photos
- Saturday, February 23 – 9:00-2:00: ALL Cast parent invitation from 1-2 PM
- Lion King cast and crew: Be sure to pick up a show/pot luck information sheet for the upcoming production…it will have information regarding what can be purchased at the show as well as what items can be brought for the dinner after the final performance. See Mrs. Parker with any questions.
- Please be sure that you have homework and/or your script with you during these times so that you can always be working on something should there be any down time. How are you doing academically? - LIBERTY CHEERLEADING: Attention 8th graders! On Thursday, March 7, 2019, Liberty’s Cheerleading coach will be here to talk to any 8th grade girls that are interested in cheering at Liberty. If you have any questions please see Mr. Korcienski in room A107.
- LIBERTY FRESHMAN BASEBALL: Attention 8th graders! On Monday, February 25, 2019, Liberty’s Freshman Baseball coach will be here to talk to any 8th grade boys who wish to play Freshman baseball.
- SOFTBALL: Attention all 7th and 8th grade girls interested playing softball for the Lady Hornets this season: There will be an Open Gym for anyone who can make it today Thursday the 21st and Monday the 25th from 3:05-4:15pm. Change in the locker room and meet in the main gym ASAP. Bring a glove and bat if you have one. If you’re interested in trying out, see Mr. Korcienski or Mrs. Jewell for more information. Tryouts are mandatory and will begin Monday, March 4th.
DROP OFF TABLE: Student Services has a drop off table. If you are expecting something dropped off, please come to the Student Services drop off table for pick up. Ms. Osorio will write you a hall pass or sign your pass. If you are expecting money, please see Ms. Osorio. Money will not be left on the table.
BOXTOPS: Want to help our school raise money? Please bring in boxtops for education. Boxtops can be found on so many items! Simply cut them off and bring them to your homeroom teacher. Homeroom teachers can then send them to Mrs. Derrington or Mrs. Braido and student council will take care of the rest.
SAFE TO TELL: It’s SAFE to Tell.” The SAFE Team exists to help students with problems in a confidential manner to help remove any and all barriers to education. You can refer your friends or yourself. Just fill out the SAFE to Tell form which you can find in your homeroom, Student Services, the Library and the Main Office and drop the form in the SAFE Box or give it to your homeroom teacher who will deposit the form for you. Don’t worry, “It’s Safe To Tell.
