COAT DRIVE: The Community School office is holding the first annual COAT DRIVE! Help make  someone’s winter warmer by donating  your gently used coats and jackets. Donations can be dropped off in Student  Services. Questions? See Mrs. Bush in Student Services.

PROUD SOCIETY: Good morning Northeast. We are excited to  kick off our proud society events this year  with our first taking place in December.  We will hold an ice cream and movie social  in the auditorium for the first 20 students  who earn entry into the Proud Society. In  addition, you will receive a free Northeast  Proud T-shirt. So, check your Schoology  profile for your virtual hornet fives and  proud pounds and when you have enough to  enter, fill out the online application form  provided by your homeroom teachers.  Please see Mr. Wynn in A103 or your  homeroom teachers with any questions.  Have a wonderful day!

SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK: Next week begins our School Spirit Week as we finish our Fall Sports season with our Football Team taking on cross town rivals Nitschmann Middle School. To show how much school spirit we have, here is a list of activities we will have next week to show our spirit:
*Thursday 11/5 – Green and White Day to support our football team and cheerleaders, or post a picture on the Northeast Community Schoology Page if you are virtual that day.
*Friday 11/6 – Mix Match Day, or post a picture on the Northeast Community Schoology Page if you are virtual that day.

THANKSGIVING DRIVE: Student Leadership is holding its annual  Thanksgiving basket food drive. Each  homeroom should have received a list of  items we are collecting. Our goal is to  get 30 baskets completed with a full  Thanksgiving meal, so that we can help  out some of our families right here at  Northeast! Homerooms with completed  baskets will be entered into a drawing  for a prize!

ACTIVITIES:

  • 8th GRADE HOMEWORK CLUB: 8th grade homework club will be meeting  in room B305 from 3:05 to 4:05pm on  Wednesdays and Thursdays. Catch up on  missing assignments and get help with your  work. If you have any quests please see  Mrs. Papagni in room B305.
  • CHORUSAll chorus members: please be sure to pick up the chorus music to practice. You should have The Schuyler Sisters, Turn the World Around, and 30 Second Fa  La La at this point. See Mrs. Parker for music or any questions that you may have. This also includes NE Singers. You are to attend chorus rehearsal on days 1 and 4. Thank you!
  • COLOR GUARD: Good morning Northeast Hornets! Are you interested in joining our Northeast Band Front as a Color Guard? We would love to have you join our squad. Our first  performance will be the Northeast -v Nitschmann Football Game under the lights at Liberty High School on November 5th. We meet every Wednesday morning at 7:15 am to 8:05 am with the Band outside as a full squad, A-L and M-Z students. If anyone is interested they are more than welcome to join us next Wednesday and if  they need more information they can  contact Mrs. Ruhf jaruhf@basdschools.org or Miss. Garza lgarza@basdschools.org directly.
  • TECHGYRLS: Girls, do you love learning about science  and technology? Have you ever wondered  how online platforms work? Join TechGYRLS! This fun *virtual* after school  program will teach you advanced Scratch  and other applications. You can register  online at ywcabethlehem.org! Don’t wait– classes are starting on Wednesdays in  November!

ATHLETICS:

  • BOYS BASKETBALL: There will be boy’s basketball open gyms on Tuesday, November 10th, Wednesday, November 11th and Thursday, November 12th. More information to come next week. See Mr. Carlstrom in D106 if you have any questions.
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Attention 7th and 8th grade girls  interested in trying out for Northeast  Lady Hornet Basketball. Open Gyms will  be held November 16th, 17th, and 18th  from 3:30-4:30. Tryouts will be held  November 19th, 20th, and on December  1st. Please note that you must have a  complete physical or re-certification form  done prior to tryouts. Information  regarding physicals can be found in the  main office, student services office, and  on our Northeast website. Please see  Coach Schaffrick or Coach Rodriguez with  any questions.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: How many times have you sat in the bleachers and booed a football player who fumbled the ball? Or maybe you were a good sport and kept your mouth shut but said to yourself, “What an Idiot!” Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th president, was known as a person of action. He said: It is not the critic that counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena. Today, remember this: if you are active and doing your best – whether it’s with your studies or sports or other activities – you deserve a great deal of credit for fully participating in the game of life. When you stumble don’t let sideline critics discourage your efforts. Instead, give yourself a pat on the back for being in the game and not on the sideline

BREAKFAST: Attention all students: The cafeteria is now serving free breakfast and lunch meals for all students every day until the end of December. You heard that right… free breakfast and lunch meals! All students automatically qualify and no form needs to be submitted. Take advantage of this program and join us in the cafeteria for your free breakfast and lunch each day that you are in school.

LUNCH: Students can drop off money for deposit in the morning to the breakfast cashier or Mrs. Cabrera. The money or check must be in an envelope with the student’s name and ID number. All funds will be deposited onto student accounts after the breakfast service. Cashiers will not accept cash during lunch.” 

SAFE: It’s SAFE to Tell. The SAFE Team exists to help students with problems in a confidential manner to help remove any and all barriers to education. You can refer your friends or yourself. It’s now safer and easier to tell: just fill out the SAFE to Tell form which you can find ONLINE in your guidance counselor’s resources folder. Don’t  worry, “It’s Safe To Tell.” Thanks for being AWESOME!
