Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for this week of November 22nd, which includes the start of our Thanksgiving Break. This is a much different week, as both Monday and Tuesday are scheduled as days students will have assignments sent to them online. There will be no “in-person” instruction. This will allow for our school to be student free for over a week, and allow for our custodial staff to put forth a deep cleaning of all areas prior to the students return to hybrid instruction December 1st. Please note, however, although students are not physically in school on Monday and Tuesday, they still must complete their school work for those days. Also, teams have scheduled their Student Led Conferences on both of those days. Monday’s conferences are scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Tuesday’s conferences are from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. If you are unsure or have not yet scheduled your child’s Student Led Conference during those two days, please reach out with an email or a phone call to your child’s academic team leader or guidance counselor.
Onto winter sports, please note that under the guidance of the Bethlehem Health Bureau’s recommendations and the recommendation of our health care partners at St. Luke’s University Health Network, The Bethlehem Area School District has made the difficult but necessary decision to suspend winter athletic activities, practices and competitions immediately through January 11th, 2021. The Bethlehem Area School District will seek guidance from the Bethlehem Health Bureau and The St. Luke’s University Health Network and reevaluate the status of its winter sports programming on or after January 11th, 2021. Although we know this news is disappointing to our student athletes, it is better to be safe than it is to be sorry. 2021 will definitely be a better year for sports.
In closing, we hope everyone can enjoy a safe and healthy Thanksgiving while being mindful of the recommendations from our health experts. Have a great remainder to your weekend, and happy Thanksgiving to all!
