SOCCER: The soccer team played their last game of the season vs their Arch Rivals Nitschmann Middle School. Last time we lost 1 to 6. Pumped up for the soccer game on the bus ride over, the Hornets were set to bring their A-Game! The game started with some dark cloudy skies with and our Midfielders were bringing it! Casey Huie and Mikyel Finley and Donoban Morales were in Beast Mode. Finn Houle played out of his mind in the goal for the first half. We had some chances to score, but the Lions defense barely kept us at bay! Our 8th Graders really stepped up on the last game! Dianna Carreon, John Medina, Justin Park, and Thomas DeAngelis all left it on the field. At half-time, the Hornets were only down 1 goal! In the second half, the rain started to come pounding down, it made it for a physical game! It was 1 to Zero the whole game up until the last 10 minutes, in the end the Lions came up with the win. With a Moral Victory, the Hornet Soccer team lost 3 to Zero, but has improved as a team and look forward to next year’s squad. Way to fight Northeast!

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Sophocles was an ancient Greek writer. He wrote about powerful figures who chose a noble path in life that ended in tragedy. If Sophocles had lived during the 1960s, he might have written about the noble but tragic life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Here’s what Sophocles has to say to us today: The ideal condition would be, I admit, that men should be right by instinct. But since we are likely to go astray the reasonable thing is to learn from those who can teach. It’s true, you know. It would be great if we always knew the right thing to do, but since we don’t always know, let’s pay attention to those who strive to teach us right from wrong, whether it’s our parents or our faith leaders or our school counselors or our teachers.
