Sunday Shout-Out – Week of April 16, 2017: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends.  Here is our Northeast “Shout Out” for this week following our Spring break. We do hope that everyone has been enjoying this beautiful break from school and that time has been shared with family and friends. We remind you that students have one more day to enjoy tomorrow, Monday, to sleep in and rest before returning to school on Tuesday.

This upcoming week is another short week without having to do the PSSA’s. As such we have rescheduled our school wide health fair for Thursday and Friday that had been postponed because of the snow back in March. In addition on Thursday evening all of our parents are invited to a parent workshop being held at Broughal Middle School. The topic of this workshop is “ Motivating Children for Better Results” and Coach Kumari, one of our parents at Spring Garden, is conducting it. A flyer will be sent home with children on Tuesday regarding this special workshop. Also this week in the evening we will hold the finals of our Northeast’s Got Talent contest on Tuesday. This program begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes performances by the top 10 finalists from the competition held this past week.   We congratulate all contestants, and we wish the finalists the best during their performances. Our NEPTO will be holding a Northeast Eats Out event at Kentucky Fried Chicken/Long John Silver’s on Easton Avenue on Tuesday as well. Stop by from 5p.m. through 8 p.m. to grab a delicious meal to take home or dine in the restaurant and Northeast will receive 15% of all sales. On Saturday our performers from our spring musical “The Music Man”, our Jazz Ensemble and our World Percussionists will take the stage.   All three groups will be performing at the annual “Cops N Kids” event being held at the Fowler Family Center on the Southside.

We have another busy week out in the fields with our spring sports. Our softball team is scheduled to play twice at home this week. On Tuesday the girls play Allentown Central and on Wednesday against our crosstown rivals, Broughal. In soccer we have three games. Our soccer athletes play home against Trexler on Wednesday and Broughal on Thursday. On Friday our soccer team closes the week away at Raub. We hope everyone continues to enjoy the remainder of this Spring Break, and we look forward to having the children back on Tuesday.
