Week of May 6, 2018: Good afternoon Northeast Family and Friends. Here is our “Northeast Sunday Shout Out” for the week of May 6th. This week our district celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week, and we wish to thank our parent association for everything because to us they make every week feel like teacher appreciation week.
A great big Shout Out to our 8th grade seminar students for their “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” video taking top honors in the Pennsylvania State Competition. Northeast Middle School won FIRST PLACE over the other 500+ school districts in Pennsylvania. We are Northeast P.R.O.U.D!
Now what do we have this week? Well almost everything possible is happening. This week we host our last two elementary schools bringing their fifth grade students here to Northeast for a majority of the day. On Tuesday we host Spring Garden and on Thursday we welcome Freemansburg. We enjoy hosting all of our elementary visits, and we thank all of our student leaders and performers who help show our future “Hornets” what it means to be Northeast P.R.O.U.D.! Speaking of performers and performances, this week we have two evening performances. On Tuesday we hold our annual Spring Choral Vocal Ensembles Concert, and on Thursday we host our Spring Band Concert. Both performances begin at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday we hold our monthly NEPTO meeting and a Band Parents’ meeting. These are the final meetings for this school year for these two groups. Also on Wednesday we have our last “full” trip for all of our P.R.O.U.D. Society members when we have a picnic and putt party at Putt U in Upper Saucon. On Thursday we also host our last “Hornet Lunch”. At the end of the week our Leaders’ Rock team visits New York to culminate their year of studies on Immigration and Leadership. Finally on Saturday our Dance and Step teams head out to Hershey for their annual dance competition plus some fun.
On the athletic fields this week we close out our regular softball and soccer seasons with two final games each. On Monday our softball team hosts Allen and Wednesday our girls end with Nazareth. In soccer we are at home against Bethlehem Catholic on Monday and then home against Nazareth on Wednesday. To totally end the season, both our softball and soccer teams play in the district tournaments on Thursday. Times and locations will be finalized this week. We wish everyone the best as they look to excel. Have a great remainder to your Sunday.
