Freedom won a share of the EPC South title by taking the football away better than anyone in the division.
It claimed the first District 11 championship in program history by sticking with that formula.
Leading second-seeded Emmaus by four points late in the first half Saturday night, the top-seeded Patriots generated two turnovers in the final 1 minute, 10 seconds before the break. Tristan Wheeler’s leaping, twisting touchdown on the last play of the half capped the game-defining stretch and propelled Freedom to a 49-17 win in the District 11 Class 6A final at Nazareth High School’s Andrew S. Leh Stadium.
