Over at Freedom High School, Kayla Smith found herself shaking as she headed to the school library, but when she realized she was the only student in attendance Smith began to relax a little. Fifteen minutes after learning she’d won, Smith was still in shock, but grinning below her face mask.
“I’m so overwhelmed,” she said.
