CIS role at Freedom High School:

Communities in Schools is proud to be at FHS. Our role is to provide partnerships between the school and community resources through our Student Assistance Program. Our goal is for our school, students and families to feel supported.

Its integrated focus on academics, maintaining school engagement, and increasing graduation rates leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.

What is Integrated Student Supports (ISS)?

The CIS Model of Integrated Student Supports, illustrated here, is our evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community’s unique needs, and is the basis for our success.

ISS is an evidence-based model of wraparound student supports that embraces a whole child perspective. ISS integrates social, emotional, and academic development and addresses the out-of-school factors that keep kids from coming to the classroom ready to learn.

It is the role of a CIS Site Coordinator to implement Integrated Student Supports in ways
that serves the unique needs of each school
community. The Site Coordinator works

one-on-one with students who need help, but
they also manage relationships with community partners and broker new services into the school.

Patriot Pride Report

Take a look at our exceptional students as they celebrate Mental Health Awareness during the month May. Students learned leadership skills as they planned, prepared and executed a school wide awareness day. This included creation of posters, discussions with school staff and administration on the needs of our students as well as the creation of a mental health survey that was distributed to classrooms.

Thank you for all your hard work:

Josiah Peters 10 , Juliana Beck 10, Zachary Franges 10, Angrew Morgan 10 and Thanaporn Meejinda 10.

Thana is a 10th grader who has demonstrated incredible talents in a variety of art forms. Her favorite form is animation and looks forward to opportunities where she can showcase her work. Thana has been such a wonderful help in creating artwork to promote the importance of our student’s mental health. We look forward to her continued support in future projects here at Freedom!

Summer Project

CIS Students will be invited to participate in a variety of community service projects once a month during the summer. Naomy Diaz-Sierra

FHS Site Coordinator

Communities in Schools

Thank you for visiting our page! My name is Naomy Diaz-Sierra and I am the new Communities in Schools Site coordinator for Freedom High School. It is an honor to be working within the district that provided me the opportunities and education that led me here today. I began my journey as a BASD student attending Thomas Jefferson, Northeast and Liberty High School. Thanks to the wonderful teachers and caring adults in my life I had decided to attend East Stroudsburg University to study Social Work and return to Bethlehem. In efforts to give back to my community that raised me, I was fortunate to Intern at the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley and started my career working with children and families for the next several years.  As I come full circle back to my BASD home I have been given another opportunity to become a proud parent and support to our students. My hope is to provide your family a warm and understanding resource so that our community can grow together.
